The team trains off campus at Eastwood Farms. This privately-owned stable is home to an exceptionally talented team of horses. Due to Eastwood's reputation in the industry for a solid program and impeccable care, many of the horses are retired show stock, donated with the confidence that they will be in good hands. The facilites at Eastwood include all tack used in conjunction with the team, two barns, and indoor arena, and an outdoor all-weather surface ring. Stabling and training for private boarders is also available.
1. Safety always comes first. If you are uncomfortable working with a horse let someone know.
2. Be at your lesson at least 1/2 hour beforehand so that you have enough time to groom your horse, tack up, and still be on time- this will ensure your lesson does not get cut short!
3. Give yourself 1/2hour after your lesson to properly cool your horse down, clean the bridle, and put all of the equipment in its appropriate spot.
4. Horse assignments are on a list in the lower barn on the bulletin board. A special list about certain horses is also located on that board- always check before you ride!
5. Tack is found in the tack room in the lower barn. Each horse has its own tack. Saddle and bridle hooks are labeled with the horse's name.
6. Brushes are located in the crates below the bulletin board. Each horse should be groomed before and after riding.
7. Horses are to be groomed and tacked in the stalls, never in the aisle. Some horses may require a halter when grooming (see special list).
8. Hoof picks are located on every stall. Hooves should be picked out before and after each ride!
9. Pads should be adjusted correctly and if you have any questions PLEASE ASK!
10. When you walk away from the stall make sure the door is shut and latched.
11. Do not leave a horse unattended in its stall with tack on.
12. Properly cool the horses after riding. There should never be a saddle or sweat mark left on the horse. If necessary rinse and towel off and remove the water bucket if the horse is still warm.
13. Make sure that you return everything where and how you found it.
14. You can feed your horse apples or carrots, but do not feed them grain even it if is next to their stall.
15. Do not tighten girth completely until you are ready to get on.
16. Keep horses away from dogs and other horses--do not risk walking the horse close to the dogs.
17. Always mount from the mounting block, land light, and stay off the horse's back at least one lap around the ring.
18. Always drive slowly down the driveway!
19. Do not allow the horse to step on the hose.
20. Do not park your car in front of the barn doors.
21. Your block of 12 lessons must be used by the end of the semester. They do not carryover into the next semester.
22. You must give at least 24 hours notice when canceling a lesson otherwise you lose that lesson.
23. All mounted riders must be wearing an ASTEM/SEI approved helmet at all times; this includes both at shows and during lessons at the farm.
24. Check the bulletin board for more rules and ALWAYS ask questions if you are not sure about something!
